Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gardener, growing food in the desert can be difficult. This class provides advice and tips on how to grow desert edibles in your garden that adapt better to our desert climate. You’ll learn how to design your garden to be water efficient, how to prep your soil, become more aware of different varieties of desert foods and crops, and how to prepare them once they’re harvested.

This program is supported by the City of Chandler’s Water Conservation Department. Registration is required.

We will specifically cover:

  • Invasives | Non-Natives | Natives
  • Annual’s vs. perennials
  • Native food sources and food bearing plants
  • Traditional crops of this region
  • The connection between food, water, and soil
  • We will have tasters of native food sources for everyone to try
  • Any specific questions you have
